Prepared from ONEDECORE's interior-planning framework and reviewed against current homeowner questions. Project-specific recommendations require site measurements and an approved scope.
Check the scope boundary
Look for a room-by-room list of included work. Painting, electrical, ceiling, plumbing, dismantling, debris removal and appliances are common areas where assumptions differ.
Check quantities and units
A rate without a quantity is hard to audit. Understand whether cabinetry is measured by square foot, running foot, unit or lump sum, and what that measurement includes.
Check the material specification
Generic labels such as premium ply, branded hardware or acrylic finish are not enough for a serious comparison. Ask for brand or grade, thickness where relevant, finish system and hardware series.
Find exclusions before signing
Exclusions are not automatically a problem; hidden exclusions are. Identify countertops, sinks, appliances, lights, loose furniture, transport, taxes and site repairs before comparing totals.
Understand revisions and variations
Confirm how design revisions and additional site work are approved and priced. Written change control protects both homeowner and contractor from memory-based disputes.
